I have a new favorite thing…Bushisms! In case you have never heard of them, Wikipedia defines Bushism as “a word, phrase, or other grammatical configurations unique to the style of President George W. Bush while speaking publicly and usually extemporaneously. Quite often the meaning is different from the intended message and creates a humorous phrase. These phrases have crept into popular folklore and there have been entire websites dedicated to this.”
I feel that regardless of your political preference you can’t help but laugh at some of the dismembered dialog that our 43rd president declares.
Just a few of my favorite Bushisms:
"I can only speak to myself." —George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., April 28, 2005
"I'm going to spend a lot of time on Social Security. I enjoy it. I enjoy taking on the issue. I guess, it's the Mother in me." —Washington D.C., April 14, 2005
"Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB/GYN's aren't able to practice their love with women all across the country."—Sept. 6, 2004, Poplar Bluff, Mo.
"Those who enter the country illegally violate the law."-Tucson, Ariz., Nov. 28, 2005
"I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein."—Washington, D.C., May 25, 2004
And this is just the tip of the iceberg! To see more funny Bushisms Slate.com’s "The Complete Bushisms" Page has a slew of them.
